cocoa butter (koh-kohbuht-er): noun
A yellowish-white fatty solid obtained from cacao seeds and used as an ingredient in cosmetics, tanning oils, chocolate, and soap.Cocoa butter contains natural antioxidants. The smooth texture, sweet fragrance and emollient property of cocoa butter make it a popular ingredient in cosmetics and skin care products, such as soaps and lotions. shea butter (sheybuht-er): noun
A slightly greenish or ivory-colored natural fat extracted from fruit of the shea tree by crushing and boiling. Shea butter is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer and an emollient. It is also a known anti-inflammatory agent. Shea butter can be effective at treating the following conditions: fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, acne, severely dry skin, blemishes, dark spots, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretchmarks, wrinkles and in lessening the irritation of psoriasis. Shea butter provides natural UV sun protection, although the level of protection is extremely variable, ranging from none at all to approximately SPF 6. Sun-sensitive persons should not rely on shea butter for protection. Shea butter absorbs rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. |

It's official: I've become a soap snob! :) When I'm out and about I can't stand using the commercial soaps. After using them, my skin feels so dry, tight and yucky! I'm now carrying a baggie with a sliver of my beloved Soap Alchemy with me wherever I go!!! My fave? Avacado Spearmint! Or Lemon Zest! Or Green Tea... and Chamomile! Or Vanilla Oatmeal! Or Shea Butter.... OK, so I can't choose just one!! :) Amy H. Avon OH 2010-03-10
I have been loving your soap since I started using it about two weeks ago. Every winter for the past few years, I've had a patch of sorta dry skin on my arm. It's not flaky or itchy and I can only feel it when I pass my hand over it so I don't think about it much. Occasionally I've tried putting some ...lotion on it. The other day I noticed that since I've been using soap from Alchemy exclusively, that area on my arm is no longer feeling dry. I'm very impressed!
I love, love, love the lavender soap and, oh yes, the spearmint, too. Now I'm looking forward to opening a bar of Vanilla Oatmeal.Mokena Janice H. Chicago IL 2010-02-05
