olive oil (ol-iv oil): noun
A fruit oil obtained from the olive (Olea europaea; family Oleaceae along with lilacs, jasmine and ash trees), a traditional tree crop of the Mediterranean Basin. It is commonly used in cooking, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and soaps and as a fuel for traditional oil lamps. Olive oil is healthier than other sources of alimentary fat because of its high content of monounsaturated fat (mainly oleic acid) and polyphenols.Topical application is quite popular with fans of natural health remedies. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the preferred grade for moisturizing the skin, especially when used in the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM). OCM is a method of cleansing and moisturizing the face with a mixture of extra virgin olive oil, castor oil (or another suitable carrier oil) and a select blend of essential oils. Jeanne Calment, who holds the record for the longest confirmed lifespan, reportedly attributed her longevity and relatively youthful appearance (for her age) to olive oil, which she said she poured on all her food and rubbed into her skin. pure (pyoor): adj.
Free from anything of a different, inferior, or contaminating kind; free from extraneous matter. castile (ca-steel): noun
A variety of mild soap, made from olive oil and sodium hydroxide. |

I have been loving your soap since I started using it about two weeks ago. Every winter for the past few years, I've had a patch of sorta dry skin on my arm. It's not flaky or itchy and I can only feel it when I pass my hand over it so I don't think about it much. Occasionally I've tried putting some ...lotion on it. The other day I noticed that since I've been using soap from Alchemy exclusively, that area on my arm is no longer feeling dry. I'm very impressed!
I love, love, love the lavender soap and, oh yes, the spearmint, too. Now I'm looking forward to opening a bar of Vanilla Oatmeal.Mokena Janice H. Chicago IL 2010-02-05
I had heard that handmade soap was good for your skin but had no idea. I was tired of using the standard body washes and then covering my body with lotion. It was a huge procedure everyday just to get showered. Then I used the olive oil soap. I was amazing. I had to work that year in Chicago, living out of a hotel, during the winter period, for 7 months. Knowing how my skin was, I was concerned, but amazingly my skin was fine, clean, smooth, soft and good feeling inspite of the dry hotel air and the winter chill of Chicago. I am hooked. I use your soap for my body, face, hands and my hair. Keep up the good job!! Jordan H. Pittsburgh PA 2006-03-08
